How you can help Retreat House Chester offer retreat in the city.

We would love you to join us in the story of Retreat House Chester, rooted in time and reinvented for today.

How it began

Chester’s former retreat house was first opened in 1925 with the funding of fifteen benefactors. So, mindful of the generous joint effort and visionary initiative of these fifteen people, we called our start-up fundraising ‘The Fifteen Appeal’. The donations received in this Appeal enabled us to begin our work and put down roots, setting us up for the future so that we can work in both Abbey Square and throughout the city with individuals and groups, offering to all the ‘peace’ that retreat can bring.

Friends of Retreat House Chester

Now that we are no longer ‘starting-up’, we would love you to join us in offering retreat in the city by becoming a Friend of Retreat House Chester. Supporting this unique way of offering retreat in the city couldn’t be easier: click here for the Friends leaflet which explains more on why we need your help, how you can donate, and what we can offer you.

One-off donations

As a small charity, every donation we receive makes a difference, helping us offer retreat in the city. Maybe you would prefer to make a one-off donation: please make your cheque payable to ‘Retreat House Chester’ and post it to Retreat House Chester, 9 Abbey Square, Chester CH1 2HU. If you are able to Gift Aid your donation, the form is available here (for a one-off donation) or here (for this and any other donations you make to Retreat House Chester): please post it to us along with your donation. Thank you very much for your support.
