Join us for an evening of words and music inspired by our Retreat House blessing ‘Peace to this house’. We’re delighted to be welcoming violinist Philip Chidell, known to many for his busking in Chester, for a programme of both classical and contemporary pieces with a meditative theme – with a few short readings presented by Retreat House.
Tickets for the evening include an interval drink. We’ll also be fundraising, including a prize raffle! (Do please bring some cash, since we can’t accept any machine payments.)
This event will celebrate the exciting next chapter in the life of Retreat House Chester, as we begin a three-year journey towards 2025, the year that marks 100 years since Chester’s old retreat house opened.
Whether you’re coming because you’re a regular supporter of our charity or simply because you’d like a lovely evening of music, you’ll be very warmly welcome.
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Booking is essential. To book please click here for our Ticketsource page.
Philip Chidell began studying the violin aged six. Two years later, he was offered a place at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, at the time becoming their youngest student. He was soon performing around the UK, and at 13 played for the first time as a soloist with an orchestra. He has performed as a member of various ensembles and orchestras, in venues including the Bridgewater Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, Chester Cathedral, Manchester Cathedral and St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.
St Mary’s Handbridge Centre is comfortable, modern and spacious. It is located behind St Mary Without-the-Walls Church on Overleigh Road. There is on-site parking on a first-come first-served basis.
