THANK YOU - THIS COURSE IS NOW FULLY-BOOKED. If you would be interested in a similar course in 2021, please email us.
“We are built for contemplation.” (Martin Laird, ‘Into the Silent Land’)
Join us as we explore five key figures in the long spiritual tradition of Christian Contemplative Spirituality: Jesus, The Desert Tradition, St Benedict, St Teresa of Avila, and Thomas Merton. Each session will begin with a time of shared silence as we explore and experience for ourselves this way of praying and living, and then the rest of our time will be spent considering the session’s particular focus, through individual reflection and shared conversation. We will use chapters from the book ‘Journey to the Heart: Christian Contemplation through the Centuries’ edited by Kim Nataraja (Canterbury Press), and ask that you buy your own copy of this book and read the first chapter for the start of the course; there will then be a selected chapter to read ahead of each session. The sixth session will be a reflective review of the course.
We are hoping to be able to offer a longer course like this in 2021, for which this year’s course may serve as a ‘taster’, although it also stands alone.
