with Claire Egan
What is a sacrament? How do we encounter God in and through ‘the sacraments’? We will begin the day by exploring together answers from within different parts of the Christian tradition. We will go on to consider the potential for a sacramental outlook to permeate all areas of life, reflecting on ideas from the ‘sacrament of the present moment’ to the significance of ‘creation as sacrament’ in the context of contemporary environmental challenges.
Claire is Director of Postgraduate Programmes at All Saints Centre for Mission and Ministry, where she currently teaches in the area of Christian Doctrine. Claire has “insider” experience from different stages of life spent within both Roman Catholic and Anglican traditions. She has a PhD on the Book of Job and her interests include questions relating to creation and providence and more broadly to the relationship between theology, science and the natural world.
With an emphasis on what we can learn during the day, we will make use of times of presentation, conversation and reflection.
