Book Club

A chance every six weeks or so to share responses to books on spirituality, both classic and contemporary.

The book for September’s meeting is The Genesee Diary by 20th-Century writer Henri Nouwen - described by the publisher as ‘insightful, compassionate, often humorous, always realistic, The Genesee Diary is both an inspiration and a challenge to those who are in search of themselves’. It is Nouwen’s personal spiritual journal of his seven-month stay in a monastery, in which he discovered ‘a quiet stream underneath the fluctuating affirmations and rejections of our little world’, and is written with his characteristic and much-loved honesty.

The hope is that you will have read your own copy of the book (or most of it!) before the session. Our Book Club sessions are lightly guided, to help us with sharing our responses.
