Conversation Groups Announced
It’s good to get together. Here are some birds gathering on the River Dee weir by The Groves in Chester… and here is the description of our conversation gatherings, just updated on our Programme page…
Our launch conversation groups are… part book club (where you don’t have to have read the book), part study group (where there’s something to learn, but no-one is the teacher), and mostly reflective space – where we can explore the theme and our responses to it through gentle conversation.
Our theme for these introductory conversations is ‘Sacred in the City – seeing the spiritual in the everyday’, and we will be guided by Margaret Silf’s book of that title. (We will be welcoming Margaret Silf to our first major speaker event on 21st April.)
Places are limited to a maximum of twelve people per group, and each group will meet twice. The first session will explore themes from the book; the second session – a fortnight later – will reflect on what these themes mean for us. Both sessions will include an introduction, resources, a time of quiet, and conversation.
Both the book and Retreat House Chester draw on a gentle Christian perspective. We will focus lightly on finding spirituality at home, at work and in city life, in order to develop reflective living.
While our conversation will be broad and you do not need to have read the book in order to join in, copies are available to buy from Chester Cathedral Shop. In the days after our event with Margaret Silf on 21st April, we are delighted that some signed copies will be available.
